About This RoleWells Fargo is seeking a Fiduciary Tax Analyst to work within the Fiduciary Tax Services unit of WIM Operations. This tax technical individual contributor will support Fiduciary Tax Services to ensure consistent and efficient oversight and review of the preparation of fiduciary income tax returns, charitable tax returns, transfer tax returns, and tax information reporting returns. This individual contributor will serve as the point of contact for our primary tax vendor, PwC, our administrative and investment partners in Banking Lending and Trust, and outside accountants.
In This Role, You Will
Review and resolve inquiries related to fiduciary, charitable, estate, gift, and inheritance tax requirements and tax return preparation,
Perform research and analysis to ensure proper tax reporting related to the taxation of securities for fiduciary, charitable, estate, gift, and inheritance tax purposes,
Review, analyze and maintain data related to the preparation of tax and information returns.
Review and/or validate documents for withholding tax purposes,
Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement and risk control development,
Coordinate with outside accountants regarding tax return preparation,
Make decisions and resolve issues to meet business objectives,
Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals,
Exercise independent judgment while developing the knowledge to understand function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
Required Qualifications:
4+ years of experience and knowledge of US fiduciary tax return, transfer tax return, charitable tax return and information return reporting and preparation, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, education
Desired Qualifications:
University level degree in accounting and/or trust administration or equivalent work experience
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or Enrolled Agent or equivalent certification
Estate, gift, and Generation-Skipping Transfer Tax (GSTT) experience
Working knowledge of UPIA and related implications in trusts
Working knowledge of partnerships, QSST, ESBT, and their effects in trusts
Understanding of US Federal and state trust taxation issues for a large financial institution
2+ year of SEI Trust 3000 experience
Effective problem solving, decision-making, organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills
Proven risk management track record
Ability to work independently, proactively, innovatively and creatively while expressing sound judgement
Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Strong analytical skills with a high attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work additional hours as needed
Ability to work outside of regular business hours
Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills
Review and resolve time sensitive and/or complex requests/complaints.
Work under minimal supervision.
Consistent execution of agreed action items, and policies & procedure.
Develop and maintain expert knowledge of all work types.
Assist manager in creating or revising departmental procedures.
Assist manager in process training.
Assist manager in quality audit.
Complete all trainings within the deadline (web-based trainings, document submission, etc.);
Attend all necessary forums, meetings, etc. as advised by manager
Initiate/Suggest process improvement ideas to increase efficiency.
Other AD HOC tasks given by manager.
