Does Knock At The Cabin Have A Post-Credits Scene? (2024)

WARNING! This article contains major SPOILERS for Knock at the Cabin's ending!Knock at the Cabin has a surprisingly twist-less ending, but is there a post-credits scene that adds more to the story? The 2023 thriller Knock at the Cabin is M. Night Shyamalan’s career follow-up to Old (2021), with the Dave Bautista-starring film already being received warmly by critics and audiences. While Knock at the Cabin is an adaptation of the 2018 horror novel The Cabin at the End of the World, Shyamalan introduces plenty of surprises and changes that leave audiences guessing until the credits finish rolling.

M. Night Shyamalan is no stranger to sequels, as his Unbreakable movie trilogy features two of the best-reviewed films of his career. Shyamalan’s film series was set up through an end-credits sequence in Split (2016), but they’re not a frequent occurrence in the director’s work. Still, viewers may be wondering whether Knock at the Cabin features any post-credits scenes that set up a sequel or give more insight into the apocalyptic story’s ending.

Knock At The Cabin Does Not Have An After-Credits Scene

Knock at the Cabin does not have a post-credits scene, nor did the film require one after the ending’s thorough explanations. Once Andrew and Wen drive away from the diner, Knock at the Cabin is over. In fact, Andrew and Wen’s trip to the diner where news reports convey that the apocalyptic developments have concluded serves as somewhat of a follow-up scene to provide more closure regarding the safety of the characters’ futures. Knock at the Cabin’s book ended far more ambiguously, whereas the final moments of Shyamalan’s movie confirm that Leonard’s apocalyptic warnings were genuine.

The lack of a post-credits scene in Knock at the Cabin shouldn’t be surprising, as M. Night Shyamalan has only used this device on one occasion in his filmography. There also isn’t much of a future to explore after Knock at the Cabin’s ending considering Eric, Andrew, and Wen successfully reversed the apocalypse. Additionally, can be assumed that Eric’s dream about Wen and Andrew’s future will come to fruition, so Knock at the Cabin subtly gave a glimpse of what happens after the credits roll.

Knock At The Cabin’s Credits Do Have A Curious Surprise

While there isn’t an actual after-credits scene, Knock at the Cabin’s closing credits do include interesting surprises. Throughout the credits, there are animated objects and movements that replicate the order of the different phases of the apocalypse seen throughout M. Night Shyamalan's thriller movie. Blue wave-like movements appear over names to mimic the tsunamis, virus symbols float around the credits to represent the plague, animated planes fall from the sky and shatter like glass, lightning crashes around the screen, and red flames burn over the names to represent the final phase of Knock at the Cabin’s apocalypse.

Perhaps in lieu of a post-credits scene, Knock at the Cabin officially concludes with the title card and the sound of knocks on a door – just like Leonard’s knocks at the beginning of the movie. This could mean that the apocalypse wasn’t completely avoided, and that another family could be chosen to have their door knocked on in the future. As thrilling as the positively-reviewed film Knock at the Cabin was before the credits began rolling, M. Night Shyamalan still leaves viewers with unsettling knocking and intrigue until the very end.
